About
The region is known as 'Iceland in miniature' because of the array of scenery that can be found here - from fjords to sweeping sea cliffs, lava fields, and golden beaches.
We have created our Wild and Wonderful West - Grand Tour to highlight all that this region has to offer. As it is a self-drive holiday, you can explore at your own pace and tailor your time with the help of our Travel Expert’s guidance.
You will visit the Fjord of the Whales and have the chance to visit the Golden Circle of Iceland (which includes Gulfoss waterfall, Þingvellir (Thingvellir) National Park and the exploding hot springs of Geysir. You can drive the magnificent peninsula roads and take in the sandy beaches, volcanic formations, fjords, craters, quaint villages and birdlife as you go.
One of the main attractions you’ll stop at is the magical Snæfellsjökull National Park and its incredible lava formations. It is most well known as the starting point of Jules Verne's Journey to the Centre of the Earth and is a wonderful area for hiking.
You’ll have the chance to visit colourful Stykkishólmur, one of the first settlements in Iceland, before heading to the biggest hot spring in Europe and finishing your holiday in the island’s capital, Reykjavik.
The driving is easy as the road network is very good, the accommodation options are very comfortable and the experiences on offer are unforgettable. Our Grand Tour really does encompass some of the greatest sights which the land of fire and ice has to offer.
